Poetry in Motion for AJJ

Finally, taking some much need craft time, I decided some art journaling was called for!! Jo of Lets Art Journal is the hostess for Art Journal Journey this month and she chose Poetry in Motion and challenged everyone to use their favorite poems, quotes and sayings to inspire your art.

Ok, so I'm an electronic hoarder over on Pinterest, and actually have a file that is labeled "Says It All".  This is where I save all sorts of sayings and quotes that speak to me, so that is where I looked for some inspiration for this challenge.  I kept coming across this quote, in different fonts and pictures.......yeah, I REALLY do like this quote!

I chose this one with the girl and her wings behind the quote, then printed it and trimmed it out.
The background is tissue paper, butterfly napkin, in, paint, half a paper Dollie and a stamped image of a butterfly.  I did go around the girl and the quote, the next morning with a Pit Pen and a wet brush to create some shadow.  I also added the colors to her wings.  I am thinking of tearing this out of my journal and hanging it on the wall.........I Love the quote THAT much! It really applies to artistic instincts........does it speak to you???

Upon Learning the Challenge....
I went around the house humming and singing this song..........from years ago!!! If your under 60 you might not remember it.......the way music USED to be LOL!!

T Stands Chuy's

Welcome to this weeks T-day post, linking up once again with Elizabeth and the T-gang.
This week's drink photos came from a day of shopping with my GD Hannah.  Her birthday is next Saturday, and I asked her if she wanted to do lunch and do some shopping for her birthday........of course the answer was "yes!"

I told her we could have lunch first, then shop.....or shop then have lunch.......she chose shop then lunch.  It was HER choice as to where she wanted to shop.....her choice....Target!!

We spent a couple hours shopping, getting her a couple of outfits. Then she helped me choose some outfits for my 2 year old GD, Samantha too......whose birthday was in July......but I was buried in packing boxes!

Then she chose to go to Chili's for lunch, but the wait was over 30 minutes at 1:30 in the afternoon!!  She said pass and chose Chuy's Mesquite Broiler........a semi fast food place. You can view the menu here.

We started with chips and salsa......I had the salsa

One foot is still in little girl mode and the other in young lady mode.......she chose the little girl foot and a coloring page *grin*

We ordered the sampler plate, which was way too much food.  She had the shrimp off my plate, I consumed the coleslaw . Drinks were sodas.......something neither of us drink very often, but this was a special occasion.

She's grinning because her Papa joined us a little late, but he was paying the bill so we allowed it!

Before we made the move DEB sent me this gorgeous post card.

Then, as soon as she got my new address I got this one in the mail!! A print of a painting she did....I think it was from her window, as we have seen that birdbath on T-days! ;)

I'm in "slow mode" today, so this is a short (for me) post this week.
Hope you will take some time, and a drink and join the gang over at Elizabeth's blog.
Happy T-day

T Day: Coffee and Water and Ice Cream

Grab button for T stands for Tuesday

Welcome back T-gang and friends, thanks for stopping by this wonderful Tuesday.  This morning's drink is black coffee and water for the T-gang.  My water bottle looks like it is looking back at you in this photo.....LOL! Since there are a number of family and friends, that have the same bottle I grabbed some nail polish and marked mine.....thus the pink "eyes". It is a bottle from Arbonne, and I think it is for the protein shakes, but I use it to measure my water intake ( so do the others).......4 of them a day is the goal. 4= 1 gallon!  Do I make the goal everyday?, but I'm still getting more water than I used to.... and now that the dust is starting to settle, I'll be striving to hit my goal again.

A lot of questions last week......I didn't take very many photos of the whole process, but here are a few.  Packing was really a mind bender, we weren't planning on moving at this time, but the offer on our house was too good to pass up, which meant we were headed for a rental for at least a year. Now, with 41 years of junk stuff to go through,  I had to decide just what we would need for a year and what we could do without for a year.  So I was packing for two destinations......A LOT GOT THROWN AWAY!  This summer will go down in my mind as "Why on earth did I/we keep that!"  LOL!!!

The stripping down of the my craft room.
Betsy ( my desk) was left until the very last so I still had a place to keep my Bible journal and my mind.

Like working a jigsaw puzzle things got packed as they would fit in a box.

With no place to stack the full boxes, they got stacked in the spare bedroom.....this is just the beginning.  Later there was just a small walkway to the bed, so I could sleep in there when DH had to leave for work in the middle of the night, and I was up late packing.

A long side of the bed

So what did we do with the things we figured we wouldn't need?
DH bought this car trailer all 28 ft. of it!  No it is not full, only about 3/4 of it is full and thinking back I should have thrown away about 40% of what is packed!  When we open it up for the next leg of moving I'll be sorting and getting rid of more.....

The day I turned over the keys to Mary.  Hannah and Megan went with me to say good bye to the old house.  It looks so much bigger without the furniture, or maybe it's just that I hadn't ween it empty in 41 years :0 !
From the kitchen to the livingroom

where the kitchen table was ...among other things....

from the hall into the kitchen.....( sorry about the bad photo, took these with my old phone)

Hannah and Megan sitting on the fireplace talking about their memories of this house.

The floors were left a mess, the next day Mary was having new flooring put in......bless her heart for not making me clean that old carpet anyway......LOL!

Oldest son, and family came by last Friday night and wanted us to go with them for ice cream.  Nobody has to ask DH twice about ice cream...haha! So off to Dewars we went.  Yes, Dewars that makes those wonderful taffy chews! Megan is working on a banana split, shared with her Mom........Hannah is finishing mine (she takes after her Papa when it comes to ice cream)

I finished with water

Now it was too dark to be taking photos with a phone, but these two insisted, stating that it was tradition to take their picture with Mr. Chew!

Well now, that was more than you bargained, for on this Tuesday.......sorry it got so lengthy.....but you all asked the questions....haha!
Now I'm off to make a couple of visits with the T-gang  before the 4 girls get here.  Grab your drink and come with me.........

T Stands for We Finally got Moved!

HELLLLOOOOO Friends!  Gosh, it has been ages since I've had a chance to join the T-Gang, or even get a post written.  What a crazy....insane ( and not to mention scorching hot) summer it has been.

So what's in the cupppas this morning?   Green chocolate shake, since the glass is dark gray I took the photo before I screwed the lid on. It is a chocolate, plant based, protein with a scoop of powdered greens and two large pinches of fresh spinach mixed with coconut milk and blended with ice.  This has been my "go to" breakfast this summer......trying to get a little healthier.  This particular shake is an Arbonne shake.  My son and DIL work out at a gym and got started in this and are selling it.  So to help support them I ordered some.....very pricey!!  It starts with a 30 day rest, that is two shakes, two small snacks and a light meal per coffee!  LOL!!! I really did not drink coffee for 21 days.............I couldn't do the full 30 days and handle the stress of packing up 41 years and getting moved ( well, that's my story ;))   Long story short, I lost 10 pounds and then a few more by at least having the shake in the morning. Plus I have learned to really read labels and I try to eat organic, cage free and grass fed meat at home. I have scouted the local health food stores and have found alternative plant based protein shakes to replace the pricey stuff! So what is in the cup??   LOL!!! COFFEE!  I still don't drink near the coffee I used to.  I have become a tea drinker 50% of the time.......GASP!!

I'm now on my first, of four, bottles of water for the day.......the more I drink the more I want and water is so good for the body.  The four GDs are already here and busy keeping busy.   Yep! I took the four of them and MOVED........but they were all great hep to me, even if it was just taking things to the trash can.....LOL!  But more about all that later, time to post and link up with Elizabeth to visit with the rest of the T-Gang.

Thanks for stopping by

T Stands for OMGOSH!!!!

SURPRISE! SURPRISE! SURPRISE! Hello my dear T-day friends and followers.  Yes it has been a while since I did a T-day post and there are 100 reasons why.....LOL!  Some how April got extremely busy, then the first of May DH and I took 10 days and went back to Colorado for a family reunion.  We were there four days......thank goodness we took the trailer....nothing like your own bed.
The night before we left we went out to a very NICE dinner at the Padre Hotel in Bakersfield.  We had to go out and eat because I had let the fridge go empty, and only bought food for the trip! ( yes, I can be very sneaky)  The wine is mine and the beer is Bob's.

While we were waiting for the food to be served we took a "selfie"

Bob ordered the lobster..............

I ordered a supreme tasting steak..........then we shared...........and still brought food home!!

I have tons of photos of the trip and the places we saw coming home.  We took a different route home and saw some amazing country.........but all that will have to wait for another time............

41 YEARS of "stuff" that has to be packed............... this is day 1

the living room......starting to stack back in the corner....

 the end of the sofa...............

the dinning room..........only the china cabinet is empty........we conquered that last night!! and boxes are stacked at the end of the fireplace.

No, our new house is not built yet, but I've done went and sold this one.........and THAT is how you get a new house! LOL!  The spare bedroom has boxes stacked all around the bed too!

One of my paint pals knew we were going to be wanting out of here, and said she would pay is........for  a house for her son (long story).  He needs to get out of his neighborhood badly.
The morning after we got home from our trip she calls and wants to know "how much?" Bob said "what we owe on it".....DONE!!!
Her son put his house on the market and sold it in two in a 30 day escrow!!!!!
Holy Smokes......everything is moving at warp speed..........and I haven't found a place to live until the new house is built!  We are planning on renting a house for a year, then we can take our time with the building of the new house and not have to rush when it comes time to move into it.......and we were afraid we wouldn't be able to sell this one for what we owe against we are taking the money and running!!!
We are going to store all the stuff we won't be needing (I know why are we keeping it??) until the new house is built, I'm getting close on the "house" part......but then there is the garage......OMGOSH!! I get overwhelmed just thinking about "starting" out there....*grin*

So there ya have it!  I will try to check in once in awhile.....I will be taking breaks *grin* and will try to get return visits made........and maybe a post of two. .......maybe we shouldn't have waited until our late 60s to move................ROTFLOL!!!
Don't forget to check out what everyone else is drinking, eating or doing over at Elizabeth's blog.

SURPRISE!!! I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, nor have I been sick or hurt.....just extremely busy this spring. We have had family here, spring birthdays, track meets, movies with my Paint Pals, painting with the Paint Pals, painting alone (when there is time) and a long over due vacation for DH and me.......even if it was for a family reunion and the list goes on and on! LOL!! I have tons of photos to share, but now I'm not really sure where to start ha!ha! I've missed sitting here making contact with all my friends, but I feel bad when I don't have the time to blog hop and return visits :((

All THAT being said I have to stop here and leave for our son's house for the Mother's Day BBQ.

T stands Tuesday

 T stands for Tuesday
I'm late for the tea party over at Altered Book Lover, and almost didn't join them this week.  Time got away from me and I didn't start my post as early as I usually do, but as I went to refresh my coffee I grabbed my camera and took a drink photo, came back to my craft space .......and well, here I am.

Yesterday I started not one, but two paintings for my GD Hannah.  She had picked these two off Pinterest.....she is in the process of changing her room into more of a beach type decor, you can see the print outs of what they should look like when I'm finished. That is as far as I got before the tile contractor came to give me a bid on the flooring of our...yet to be built house. Since he just lives down the street, he dropped by on his way to work.  Then Hubby came home and we went to see a general contractor to get a bid from him.  I sure hope he isn't outrageous on his quote, we both really liked him and he has built with ICF blocks before.............but we aren't made of money, even though we have been saving for a long time.  But I have faith, and can't fret over these things, It will either happen or it won't.

The drawing of the crown of thorns I did while watching TV with Hubby last night.  I drew, and shaded it with pencil first, then went over it with Inktense watercolor pencil and a damp brush.  Easter has been on my mind......I know it's early, but it will be here in no time!!

While waiting for the paintings to dry (the sky parts) I was fooling around and made a logo for our Paint Pal group........still some finishing touches to do, then I'll scan it, and add Paint Pals words with Print Shop.  If the girls like it, I'll make it into a transfer for some shirts.

Three daily journal/diary, my planner, and my Journal Bible.  I try to attend to all three of these early, every morning.  I just started with a planner, since I completely forgot to meet with friends for lunch one day, and now all these appointments with contractors.......sheeesh!  I'm getting to the point that if I don't write it down, I'd forget to brush my teeth....LOL!!!

I just discovered Bible way of Pinetrest.  It has been around for a number of years, and began in the UK, as is my understanding.  It makes for great devotional time and I get to mix all kinds of art with it.........what more could one ask for???  If anyone is interested in learning more about this let me know and I'll send you some links.

That's about it from here, my cup has just been re-filled, again......these large mugs are great but the coffee is cold about half way through, so I just keep adding hot to it.  Laundry is started, Hubby is not working this morning, so it feels like Saturday instead of Tuesday.

Tomorrow I'm meeting the Paint Pals for lunch and a movie.  We have one theater that has a seniors day and only costs $4.00 (US) to get in and the lunch spot has a $5.00 (US) lunch special.  I HOPE to remember to take some photos.  We are going to see Beauty and the Beast and see what the hullabaloo is all about, before we take any of our grandchildren to see it.  Two weeks ago we went to see The Shack, and were amazed that there was so much controversy, but some churches, about it.  We ALL LOVED it!! A couple of us had read the book years ago.

Then Thursday the Paint Pals will be it is stacking up to be a busy week.

Shopping Divas

Art Journal Journey still has the Out and About challenge going.......all the way to the end of the month. This month it is Yvonne ( Meggys Way) who chose the challenge, and it has caused quite a stir of creativity....but you have to check it out to see what I mean.

Today I am sharing my latest journal page.......guess I was day dreaming about shopping.  It is mostly acrylic paint, the background being a mop-up from finger painting flowers.  The image of the shoppers is from Art Impressions......I thought they were Park Avenue worthy. The highlights on the Park Avenue are  a metallic gold, but scanners just don't like to show anything shiny. :((

The weather has turned nice here, getting a little warm in the afternoons, but settling down to cool evenings and nights.  The kind of weather where you sleep with the windows open.....LOVE IT!  Although the temps nearly hit 90' (F) this week.....not Quite ready for THAT yet!  They are predicting cooler temps and possible rain again next week......March weather is so fickle!

Birthday Fish

This rainbow fish is full of birthday wishes for our grandson, who has been going fishing with his dad on the weekends.  He will be 4 years old next week, and loves to fish!!
The fish is really a fun watercolor technique, and I did it last summer with the GDs and we loved doing it.  I found it on You Tube, it's a painting for kids.......that would be me....LOL!  In short, it is very wet watercolor and blowing through a drinking straw.  The black is a sharpie.  I did use a good watercolor paper and then a glossy finish over the top.

Here is the inside, background paper was made the same way as the fish, all the letters were cut with the CriCut.
When I'm finished here I will get it signed and popped into the mail.

Hats and Headgear.....a TAG

I decided to join week two of  the Tag Tuesday challenge: Hats and Headgear, after all I do love hats, and own quite a few....*grin*
I chose an other Rogue Redhead Designs stamped image.  I used ink to watercolor the image, only using a dark gray.  The red feather and lips are done with a sharpie, then fussy cut her out and used a thick pop dot to mount her onto the die cut oval.  The feathers are die cut and a few black gems to hold them down......the rest are scraps form the scrap pile, and a strip of Washi tape. Sentiment is by Dylusions ...I believe.

Thanks for stopping by!

T-day and Other Things

Welcome back for an other T-day post.  Grab a cup of coffee, tea, soda, or a great bottle of water and then we'll begin!!

I do want to take a moment and thank everybody who drops by weekly and to all of you that are here for the first time.  If you are dropping by for the first time, this post is part of a great group of people, that I just call the T-gang.  We gather at the Altered Book Lover's Blog and share our drink and food related posts and what ever else we want to share.

All is my opening photo.......

This is what I have already accomplished this morning ( and it's only Monday *grin*).  I took this just before grabbing that cup for a!  My watercolor fish are being auditioned for my grandson's birthday card.

Now on to the "other things"  It's long and rather wordy from here....but you can skip to the bottom if you wish.

Two of my Paint Pals came by on Thursday and we decided to let our inner children out to play.  We watched, and painted with a video: finger painting with Jane, on You Tube.  Notice all the large cups?  We had just gotten back from The Shop Cafe for lunch, while our backgrounds dried.......that turned out to be a two hour much talking and laughing!! No photos....we were too busy...*grin*  Cheryl, our other PP was at a very important meeting and had to miss this, but I assured her that we would catch her up on an other day.
These two really got into it....there inner children look so serious!
I had taped watercolor paper to some old canvases, but we were using acrylic paint.

Patty, using the two finger method.....*grin*

Lea is working her yellow flowers with just one finger.

Lea's finished painting

This is mine

Patty's finished painting

A couple of proud Paint Pals.

Jumping forward..........It is now late Monday night and I am just getting back to finishing this post.  What a day, Hubby came in early from a truck run so we could meet with a contractor at 11 this morning.  He took us way out in the country to show us a home he is just finishing, that ended up being a two hour tour!!!  The place was HUGE 7,000 sq. feet!!  Two story house on top of a basement, with a garage bigger than the house I'm sitting in right now!! All I could think was "I'm sure glad I don't have to clean this place!" LOL!!! We still have a few more contractors to talk to and get bids from before we even think about starting construction of our new house Hubby and I had a quick late lunch.....sorry no photos.  Then home again so he could go get an other load to deliver tomorrow your almost caught up.......

The cutest post card from Deb our Jinixxxy girl. Thanks Deb, I think it is fantastic!!

Next was this awesome large envelope from Germany.  Yep! it's from Valerie over at Bastelmania blog.
Want to see what was in it???????

I pull out this large white plastic bag.......really a cool looking bag.

Wrapped in some bubble wrap were this luscious handmade paper beads....they are about 2 1/2 inches long..........full of texture and sparkle.

The 12" tall tag!!!! Oh how I wish my camera would have captured this better.  It is just absolutely gorgeous!!!   Metallic golds and copper and glitter!!!!

Here is what things were wrapped in......napkins and a very cool post card.  I just love the cow napkin Valerie!

Okay she didn't stop there...............the crowning jewel was...............

This hand made journal!!!

LOOK at the beautiful texture and colors!!!  It has a pocket on the inside of both covers, and in one cover are two bookmarks.......I was so excited I forgot to get a photo of the insides.......LOL!

I'm not sure what I did to deserve such wonderful gifts but THANK YOU VALERIE and THANK YOU DEB for the great post card.

I made a tag last week and decided to attach it to my JD as a flap.  I removed the flap I had original put on this page, then used the same paints and ink to make it go with the tag.

Well, I'm starting to have trouble keeping my eyes open....there was more I was going to share until I got all the Happy Mail......but it will all save for an other day.......yawn!

I hope all our friends on the northern east coast are staying safe and warm to night as that huge snow storm is passing through to night.  We hear predictions of 12-24 inches of snow.  Now I do feel bad that it will be almost 90' (F) here tomorrow.........yawn!

That's it for me ( yawn)......time to link up with the T-gang at Elizabeth's blog.
I'll make rounds in the morning with a fresh cup of coffee.....
Nite all!
